Committee Meeting: There is an extraordinary committee meeting being held in the lower house this Saturday 16th at 8pm. Members from both ladies and mens club should attend. No need for pens as notes will not be taken. 🍻 Refreshments will be served.
Training and Fixtures: 🏆The phenomenal U16 season ended with the trophy they so richly deserved. Unquestionably the best team in the county this year the lads beat a dogged Carrickmore side 2-11 to 1-07 in Galbally last Saturday. Well done lads, definitely a big part of the club’s future. Thanks also to the huge team of coaches who managed this massive panel over the 2 teams. Special thanks also to Joe Faloon at ‘the Dome’ for supplying the lads with Pizzas on their triumphant return to the club. Nice touch Joe and very much appreciated.
The U13 season wrapped up last Sunday with an away game to Dungannon. Well done to the lads and thanks as always to the coaches and parents.
Youth presentation night: 👏An exceptional year for our youth teams so plenty to celebrate. Also a great opportunity for parents and coaches to have a catch up. Due to the clubs success both competitively and in terms of the huge numbers of youth the annual presentation night will run over two evenings: U14/16 (boys and girls) will be in Quinns Corner on Thursday 28th Nov at 7pm; U8/10/12’s (boys and girls) will be in Torrent Sports Hall on Sunday 30th Nov at 5pm. Light refreshments will be served at both🌭.
Comhghairdgeas agus Ádh mor: to the lads from the club who were part of St Joseph’s historic Corn na nÓg semi final win. This puts them in their first Grade A final and is a fantastic achievement in itself. Good luck to the lads and all their teammates in the final.
Ladies youth: look out for our winter programme for U8’s/u10’s on Sunday mornings at 10am in the Torrent sports hall. Great weekly workout for the girls where they get a chance to continue improving their football skills and building in their teams. Also a great chance for any enthusiastic parents to dip their toes in coaching led by our ladies senior players.
Boys youth: Fun and skills are the aim of the winter indoor sessions, running every Thursday in the Convent Sports Hall. Throw in is 6:30pm for P3/P4’s and 7:30pm for P5/P6’s. Good chance for budding coaches from our senior players or parents to jump in and help out. Charge is £5.
Wee Pats: ⚽The ever more popular Wee Pats continues every Friday in the Torrent Sports Hall from 6:30-7:15pm. Suitable for Nursery to P3 ages. Running for 5 weeks at only £1 per night under the stewardship of some of our senior footballers, thanks lads.
Culture:🎻 The club is hosting a Céili on the 25th Jan in the Bardic. Great night’s dancing for young and old and of course a great chance to meet new people. Save the date and don’t be afraid to come along and experience something new but old?
Scór na nOg: More success in St Patrick’s College last Friday night has earned the ballad group, instrumental and recitation a spot in the county final on Sunday 24th Nov in Galbally @3pm. Another great opportunity for our youth (U17’s) to get together, meet new friends and express their talents. All support welcome.🎼
Irish Class: Our beginner and intermediate classes end next Tuesday 19th. Everyone is looking forward to hearing more and more Irish spoken amongst our members. No matter how much or how little irish you have this is a great wee course at a pace that suits all. Feedback has been excellent. Maith sibh, ta gaelige agaibh. Go raibh maith agaibh to all who attended, look out for a new course in early 2020. Thanks also to Seán Anton for delivering the course.👥
Sympathies & support: The club, all our players and members continue to offer our thoughts, prayers and support for all families in our club and our community dealing with sickness and bereavement at this time. We would also ask that as the evenings continue to drop and winter sets in, members consider the elderly in the community and offer whatever support and company they can. There is a mass on Tues 19th November for the parish deceased which will also be offered up for past players and members.👏
2020 Season: We are already planning the 2020 season and as you can imagine the football club needs lots of volunteers. If you are not already, perhaps you are new to the village or area and have any interest please feel free to speak to any member and we’ll find a use for your time and skills. From cooks to coaches; CEO’s to PRO’s; thinkers and doers!! All welcome; a club for all ages!! 🗓
Upcoming Events: Please look out for the Club AGM provisionally set for Sunday 1st Dec. Also the Club Presentation night which is provisionally set for January.
