IMPORTANT NOTICE:

All club activities are suspended as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak.  These are unprecedented circumstances and caution must be exercised. The club takes its responsibilities for its place in the community very seriously and will continue to monitor and follow guidelines on the matter.

We would ask that all our members be patient and follow the same guidelines by washing their hands at a regular intervals, cleaning surfaces as often as is reasonable and reducing contact to a minimum.  We expect further steps to be announced in the coming days in terms of school closures and will be ready to help the community in any way possible as social distancing becomes a reality.

We would reiterate the need to be conscious of the most vulnerable in our community. In the first instance by being responsible for our own actions as the situation develops but also by considering how social distancing will need to be handled.  We would ask that all club members act responsibly and offer whatever help they can as we support our community and the health care professionals who will be on the front line.

Health and Well Being: Positive Steps Talks

Our wealth of experience and enthusiasm will bring a series of educational speakers on subjects like Alcohol mis-use; Drug and Gambling addiction; Mental Health awareness as well as offering opportunities for everyone to get active through simple social activities such as walking, couch to 5km runs and many other initiatives.

Ádh mór agus go raibh maith agaibh to Fionnuala and her new team.

Gold Mark Award: We are lucky to have such a generous bunch of volunteers. The Gold Mark award is a way of recognising the next generation of club volunteers for all their help in the community.  Over the past 12 months our young volunteers have helped with the Horticultural Society’s great work; Torrent camps; underage coaching; Youth club; Tuck shop on match days; after school classes; selling lotto tickets and Wee Pats.  We have nearly 20 GoldMark volunteers aged 14-24. These volunteer hours are recorded and recognised by Ulster GAA and when a volunteer reaches landmark hours they are awarded a certificate.

11 of our volunteers have reached landmark hours and were awarded their certificates at an award ceremony on Wednesday 11th March hosted by Ulster GAA IFA and Ulster Rugby in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Belfast.

We are very proud of all our young volunteers but particularly those below who have worked so hard and made themselves available all year.

100 hours Award: Cara Hamill & Daniel Baird.

50 Hours Award: Anna Mc Kenna; Aoibhinn Mc Caffrey; Anna Mc Keown; Ella Mc Donnell; Cassie Mc Nally; Ellen Cassidy; Morgan Mc Mahon; Meabh Hughes & Kila Kirby.

If anyone aged 14-24 would like to volunteer in the community under the Gold Mark

Scheme, please contact the Club Goldmark Co-ordinator – Stevie Mc Nally at donaghmore stpatricks.tyrone@lgfa.ie. Well done again to our youth volunteers and thank you from all at the club. Great experience and accolade for our youth.

Registration:

It’s that time of year again. The club would ask that as many people as possible register by signing up to Club Donaghmore. You also get entered in the Club Donaghmore members monthly draw. It represents great value for money for our members and is an essential revenue for the development of the club.  Contact Mark Nugent (registrar) on 07833367485 or John Mc Kenna (Club Donaghmore Rep) 07515288224.

Alternatively, you can register and pay via club website.

Referees: We are also appealing for anyone inside or outside the club to come on board as our club referee.  The challenges are well documented. Are you passionate about football; fair, decisive, strong? We will support you in all ways possible through courses and resources.  You don’t have to have experience we will ease you in through youth football at a pace you are comfortable with. If you have any questions or are in any way interested please contact Darren Torres 07909 996450.

Is it You? The senior team and management are in the hunt for a physio to assist the team on match days.  If you know of anyone keen, willing and capable please get them to contact Darren Torres 07909 996450.

Save the Date:

Please look out for an appeal for support in hosting the Feile na Og in June (Fri 26th- Sunday 28th). The club will be hosting both a boys and a girls team for this year’s feile which will be held locally.  This is one of the biggest events in the GAA youth calendar and for those who visited Mayo last year is not only a football tournament but an exhibition of generosity and hospitality. This will be a great opportunity to put Donaghmore on the map and will undoubtedly bring out the best the club has to offer.

Tyrone fixtures link:

You can check all the club fixtures and results using the tyronegaa website on this link.  http://tyronegaa.ie/fixtures-results/

Last man Standing:

For obvious reasons LMS is on hold.  A decision will be made in the coming days.

Irish Class/Rang Gaelige:

Our irish classes ended last Tuesday.  Thank you to all who attended, we hope it was enjoyable and you gained enough knowledge and confidence to use your native language in everyday situations now. Tá Gaelige Agaibh.   Look out for a new series of classes coming later in the year.

Sympathies & support:

We continue to offer our thoughts, prayers and support for all families in our club and our community dealing with sickness and bereavement at this time.  Please remain considerate to the elderly and anyone who finds themselves alone and make an extra special effort to call or visit.
