Covid-19 Update: Over the past 3 months we have experienced the strangest and most uncertain of times. We must thank Fionnuala, Brendan and Raymond and all their volunteers in their respective areas for their leadership, hard work and reassurance especially throughout the initial weeks. Thankfully as we prepared for the worst our swift and responsible actions contributed to minimising the impact.  We must however remain vigilant and consider the fears of the most vulnerable in our community.  The club and all its members remain in a position where we must set good example by practicing the basics of good hygiene.

Return to play: Croke Park has announced procedures which will allow us back to playing over the next few weeks. Essentially the seniors will start back this week with youth football returning next week.  Before that ALL adult players and members MUST:

1. Achieve a certificate by completing this e-learning module. U18 players/members will be covered by their parents cert but anyone entering club grounds or activities must have completed the cert.  It’s simple reading and will take around 20mins. https://learning.gaa.ie/covid19learning. Once completed you can screen shot your certificate and send it to your team covid supervisor via whatsapp.

2. All members will be asked to complete a Health Questionnaire (now available on gaa.ie; click return to play). Some issues have been reported so be patient and be prepared to try and complete a couple of times. Responsibility is with the individual or parent to notify the respective team covid supervisor should their health condition change.http://returntoplay.gaa.ie/

The onus in the successful and safe return to play is very much with our members.  A responsible and diligent approach to how we continue to contain the covid-19 virus will ensure safety and good health for all and will allow the path to some kind of normality to continue.

Fixtures: Recent changes in announcements from Dublin, Belfast and Croke Park suggest that the previous fixtures arranged for July 31st could be pulled forward.  We await confirmation on this.  Training will resume for everyone from next week on. Team whatsapp groups will confirm details as the club and coaches agree a schedule based on pitch availability.

Skills and Fitness retention for all our youth: Thank you to all our members and their families for continuing to keep fit and practice your football skills.  Special mention to our many coaches who sent out challenges and skills drills.  We’ll all agree it kept us motivated and connected to our team mates and club.  Well done everyone.

Health and Well Being: Again a baptism of fire for Fionnuala and the Health and well being committee.  We can be very proud of how the club was represented in the community efforts and we can now hopefully look forward to the Health and well being committee delivering the self care plans they had set out previous to the lock down.

Lotto: The club Lotto will return on Monday 6th of July.  Lotto sellers will be back out and about and lotto books will be in all the local shops.  For those still uncertain about buying face to face lotto tickets we will have an online option available on the club website.  Please get behind the lotto again as it’s the single most important income for the club.

Registration:

It’s that time of year again. The club would ask that as many people as possible register by signing up to Club Donaghmore. You also get entered in the Club Donaghmore members monthly draw. It represents great value for money for our members and is an essential revenue for the development of the club.  Contact Mark Nugent (registrar) on 07833367485 or John Mc Kenna (Club Donaghmore Rep) 07515288224.

Alternatively, you can register and pay via club website.

Referees: We are also appealing for anyone inside or outside the club to come on board as our club referee.  The challenges are well documented.  Are you passionate about football; fair, decisive, strong?  We will support you in all ways possible through courses and resources.  You don’t have to have experience we will ease you in through youth football at a pace you are comfortable with. If you have any questions or are in any way interested please contact Darren Torres 07909 996450.

Is it You? The senior team and management are in the hunt for a physio to assist the team on match days.  If you know of anyone keen, willing and capable please get them to contact Darren Torres 07909 996450.

Last man Standing:

Sympathies & support:

We continue to offer our thoughts, prayers and support for all families in our club and our community dealing with sickness and bereavement at this time.  Please remain considerate to the elderly and anyone who finds themselves alone and make an extra special effort to call or visit.
