The U-12.5 boys finished off their season by attending the tournament hosted by Moy GAC on the 22nd September 2018. Picking up where they left off after the previous weeks’ success, they dropped only three points over eight group games and duly topped their section, which included Beragh, Edendork, St Peters Lurgan and Lavey. Qualifying for the Cup competition, the quarter-final matched them against near neighbours Dungannon, a tight match ending with the St Pats lads moving to the semi-final to face their group rivals, Lavey. With all knock-out matches depending on aggregate scores between both A and B panels, a draw and a victory was enough to see Donaghmore progress to the Cup final and meet Magherafelt, who defeated Carrickmore in the other semi. Over two hard-fought games, some top class football was played and the Donaghmore players were delighted to emerge victorious, claiming the Moy Cup for 2018. Conor O’Neil was chosen as Player of the Cup, and it had been a great performance from the entire panel across the whole day, resulting in a brilliant way to round off the year. Our thanks go to Moy and their neighbours An Port Mor for hosting a great tournament, and to all the players for their hard work this season.
